Is Islam (In)Consistent with Democracy- Lecture Series

Today, a resident and myself attending a lecture put on by two faculty members that focused on if there are countries in this world that have high numbers of Muslim citizens but are still a democratic country. It was a very interesting topic, that intrigued both of us. The lecture focused primarily on the country Senegal in Africa, which is the home country of one of the speakers. We both learned a lot about not making quick assumptions have people and that most assumptions that Americans have of Muslims are actually false.
